LO3- Be able to carry out a production role for a specific media production

Image
Roles and responsibilities As part of my creative media diploma, I was given a task to create a film trailer in a team of 3 this is one of my twelve units. The team was given a certain timescale we had to follow but also given freedom for creativity making the unit fun to make and this makes production smooth. we chose too call our film Counting Cards and the film was about a gambling addict who loses all his fortune on a illegal game gone wring and through the situation he gets himself in the business of drugs which turns into him hunting for the people who stole his fortune. As we only had 3 people on our team and one is already a director I had to take the role of a cameraman and this involved me learning how to use the equipment which is a cannon DSLR and a stabilizer. This means I have to look at the storyboards and get the correct angles. Whilst in the production of the film I also had to help the director and the editor wit...

LO1-  P2 The job role I have chosen to talk about is cameraman In the this job roles communication is very important between the production team. Written communication is important as then the evidence of you saying this is logged. Through out 6 form I have made 2 trailers and 1 documentary. In the production of the first trailer I made, which was Counting Cards I was lead cameraman so I had the responsibility of making sure the footage was captured. With this I had too know what shots too take so the director (Ellis) sent me a shot list. Shot list This shot list was written communication so I know how long I need each shot need to be and what I will need to film but also the angle I will shoot. Another type of written communication was story boards as this gave me more detail on what to do the story boards provided me with an image. This has been done for both trailers I have made also for the documentar...

LO1- Task 2 Analyse two roles within a media production

TASK 2 The two roles I will be comparing are cameraman and editor because I would say that these two jobs are equally important. Cameraman has the responsibility to film the scene and get the correct movement for the actors and make sure all the angles are correct. The cameraman has to make sure all the equipment is set up so the director can tell them where to go with the camera. The cameraman needs to stay calm through out filming because the camera will shake if they do. The fluidity of the movement is very important because it plays a big part in the quality of the whole film. An editor has the responsibility to put the jigsaw puzzle together and will be putting the audio into the scenes to make it come alive. The editor will have to work hours and hours just to find the perfect scene for that part as the production team gives him all the footage. The editor will need to look back at the story boards and put the scenes in that order but if correctly done...

LO1- Task 1 Understanding job roles

TASK 1 The sector I have chosen to focus on is film as I currently have experience with in this sector. Job roles in Film Cameraman - The cameraman is the person who captures the birth of the film. The cameraman will be there from day 1 of production, setting up camera angle by looking at the story boards and taking instructions from the director. In a big budget film the set may have 4 to 5 camera men all with different angle and shots. The heavy duty camera equipment that they will use may actually need assistants which means more people on set for filming. The cameraman will take instruction when to move. They are responsible for the timing of the scenes and the fluidity of the camera. The boom boy is the cameraman's closest team mate and the boom boy will move where ever the actors are. Director - The Director is the biggest and the most stressful role in the production as he is a in charge of all job roles. The director need to make sure all the people who are in the ...
